After March 8, tourists visiting Tunisia will be required to spend at least 48 hours in quarantine, not seven days, as it was before, Report informs with reference to the Tunisian Tourism Ministry.
The rules were changed after the Tunisian government decided to ease some of the restrictions imposed to curb the coronavirus pandemic.
Foreign nationals who have booked a hotel room must provide a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before arriving in Tunisia and take a rapid test at the point of arrival.
According to the new rules, tourists are also obliged to self-isolate for 48 hours in the same hotel. After this, they can do another test at their own expense, without leaving the room until the result is obtained.
Under the new rules, the ban on movement between the country’s provinces is lifted. The authorities will impose restrictions only at the coronavirus hotbeds. The curfew will be in force from 22:00 to 05:00 (GMT +1). It is allowed to carry out activities in tourist facilities in compliance with sanitary standards. However, they can only be full at 50% of their capacity.
Since the pandemic onset, Tunisia has recorded 236,000 infection cases and over 8,000 COVID-related deaths.
