Tourist flow to Azerbaijan up by 44%

Azerbaijan received was 918,800 tourists from 181 countries in 2023, 43.9% more than the previous year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

Among the tourists, 32.9% came from Russia, 19.2% from T ürkiye, 7.7% from Iran, 5.2% from India, 4.9% from Georgia, 2.4% from Saudi Arabia, 2.3% from each of Pakistan and Kazakhstan, 2.1% from the UAE, 1.8% from Uzbekistan, 1.5% from each of Ukraine and Belarus, 1.3% from Kuwait, 1.2% from each of the UK and Turkmenistan, and 12.5% from other countries. Men constituted 72.2%, while women comprised 27.8% of the foreigners.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of arrivals from China increased by 7.2 times, Turkmenistan by 3.9 times, India by 3.1 times, Belarus by 2.3 times, Uzbekistan by 2.2 times, Kazakhstan by 1.9 times, Russia by 1.9 times, Israel by 1.6 times, the US by 44.2%, Kuwait by 37.2%, Georgia by 35.5%, Great Britain by 34.6%, UAE by 22.7%, Pakistan by 16.1%, Türkiye by 15.9%, while the number of arrivals from Saudi Arabia decreased by 23.6%, Iran by 14.9%, Oman by 9.9%, and Ukraine by 6.2%.

In contrast to a year earlier, the number of tourists from the CIS countries grew by 1.9-fold to 385,800, from EU member states by 40% to 46,700, and from Gulf countries by 8.9% to 134,200.

Some 68.8% of foreigners and stateless persons who came to Azerbaijan used air, 29.8% used railway and automobile, and 1.4% used sea transport.
