Tourist flow to Azerbaijan rises 17%

In January-February 2020, 426,100 foreigners traveled to Azerbaijan from 149 countries, up 17% from the previous year, Report informs citing the State Statistical Committee (SSC).

According to the SSC, 28.7% of visitors traveled from Russia, 28.7% from Georgia, 11.2% from Turkey, 6.2% from Iran, 2.6% from Saudi Arabia and India, 1.8% from each of UAE and Ukraine, 1.6% from Kuwait, 1.5% from Pakistan, 1.4% from Kazakhstan, 1.1% from each of Turkmenistan and Iraq, 0.9% from Great Britain, 0.8% from each of Israel and Uzbekistan, 7.1% from other countries. Among the visitors, 72.3% was men, 27.7% were women.

The number of tourists from Saudi Arabia increased by 3.3-fold, from Israel – by 2.3-fold, from Hungary – by twice, from India – by 1.8-fold, from Kuwait – by 1.5-fold, from Bahrain – by 1.5-fold, from Belarus – by 35.5%, from Moldova – by 30.7%, from Kazakhstan – by 27.7%, from Uzbekistan – 26.2%, from Iran – by 24.9%, from Russia - by 21.7%, from Germany – by 20.4%, from Ukraine – by 18.3%, and from Pakistan – by 17.4%.

The number of tourists from EU increased by 5.7% to 12,200 people, from CIS countries – by 21.2% to 147,700 people, from the Gulf countries – by 17.4% to 62,200 people.
