A total of 680,800 people traveled abroad from Azerbaijan from January through June of 2022, which is 2.3 times more compared to the same period last year, Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee.
According to the committee, 47.6% of the Azerbaijanis who traveled abroad visited Turkiye, 15.7% visited Russia, 13.3% traveled to Iran, 8.1% to Georgia, and 15.3% opted for other countries. Men accounted for 65.9% and women were responsible for 34.1% of all those who traveled abroad.
Compared to the same period last year, the number of Azerbaijanis who traveled to Iran, Turkiye and Georgia increased by 5.2 times, 2.7 times, and 2 times, respectively.
The number of Azerbaijanis visiting Russia went up by a whopping 29.1%.
About 55.4% of Azerbaijani citizens who traveled abroad used air, 42% used automobile, and 2.6% used sea transport.
