The tourist flow to Spain decreased by 77.3 percent last year, compared to the previous year, due to the pandemic and the ensuing restrictions, Report informs, citing the Spanish National Statistics Institute (INE).
In 2020, Spain received 18.9 million incoming travelers. The last time when the country had less than 20 million visitors was in 1969, Europa Press reports.
The French (3.9 million), Britons (3.2 million), and Germans (2.4 million) were responsible for the biggest number of visits to Spain, with the main destinations in the Canary Islands, Catalonia, and Valencia. The number of Russian tourists stood at 155,000.
Foreign tourists arriving in Spain last year spent a total of 19.7 billion euros, against 91.9 billion the year before.
