Regional tourism councils may be established in Azerbaijan

The State Tourism Agency is considering the possibility of establishing regional tourism councils, the Chairman of the Agency Fuad Nagiyev said at the Azerbaijan Tourism Summit in Baku, Report informs.

According to him, the tourism industry in Azerbaijan is rapidly recovering:

"More than 1,458,000 tourists came to the country in 11 months this year (+2.1 times). The restoration of tourist flow from Turkiye and Saudi Arabia is more than 90%. The number of tourists from some countries exceeded the results of 2019."

"We expect an average growth of 20% annually in the tourism sector. By 2026, the annual number of foreign tourists coming to Azerbaijan will reach 4 million, and local tourists - 6 million. The funds spent on tourism will increase by four times to 11.2 billion manats ($6.6 billion), 49% of which will go to foreign tourists and 51% to local tourists," Nagiyev added.
