Poland to lift restrictions on some aircraft, cruise passengers

Poland will allow aircraft to fly with all their seats occupied as of July 1, Deputy Prime Minister Jadwiga Emilewicz has said, Report informs, citing Radio Poland.

According to the current restrictions, only 50% of seats can be filled on airliners. Jadwiga Emilevich stressed that the lifting of limitations is good news for the tourism and aviation sector. Previously, representatives of travel agencies and air carriers warned that reducing the number of passengers on planes will lead to the bankruptcy of offices and airlines.

In early June, Polish airline LOT resumed domestic flights to several cities. From July 1, the airline will resume European flights.

Notably, Poland has been easing lockdown restrictions on the coronavirus pandemic and opening its borders with other European Union countries on June 13.

Although many countries have opened their economies, the epidemiological threat has not subsided yet, and virus hotspots have sprouted in various parts across the world. In Poland, over 31,300 people have been infected so far, resulting in over 1,300 deaths and more than 15,000 recoveries.
