Number of people traveling to Azerbaijan by air rises by nearly 37%

Azerbaijan welcomed 1,956,882 air passengers from 38 countries during the first seven months of 2024, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijan State Tourism Agency.

This marks an increase of 6 countries (18.7%) and 526,485 passengers (36.8%) compared to the same period in 2023.

Russia topped the list with 542,431 passengers arriving in Azerbaijan over the first seven months, a 28.9% rise from the previous year.

In July alone, 387,514 passengers traveled to Azerbaijan, reflecting a 27.6% increase from the same month last year. Of these, 99,467 passengers were from Russia, up 21% from July 2023.

Türkiye followed Russia, with 471,210 passengers traveling to Azerbaijan, a 21.4% increase from the previous year.

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates ranked third, with 259,082 passengers, a 47.8% increase year-on-year.

Other significant contributors included Georgia with 127,800 passengers (up 42.9%), Saudi Arabia with 73,429 passengers (up 18.5%), India with 60,666 passengers (up 9.2 times), Kazakhstan with 60,135 passengers (up 36.8%), Italy with 34,100 passengers (up 2.1 times), Uzbekistan with 32,746 passengers (down 14.9%), and Qatar with 32,008 passengers (up 86.5%).
