In 2018, 1.6 million tourists travelled from Azerbaijan to Georgia, Arif Valimammadov, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijani Entrepreneurship Development Fund under the Ministry of Economic Development of the Azerbaijan Republic said at a conference on ‘Current situation of tourism in Azerbaijan and development perspectives’.
"Of course, we cannot prevent them from going to Georgia. People have the right to choose a place for rest. However, we should make tourists stay in Azerbaijan, as well as attract tourists from other countries. Therefore, there must be better conditions in Azerbaijan than in Georgia. I think there are opportunities for this. Azerbaijan and Georgia almost have similar cuisine and nature," he said.
