Indian airline to launch direct flights to Azerbaijan

India's IndiGo Airlines plans to launch direct flights to Azerbaijan next month, Report informs, referring to the State Tourism Agency.

The issue was discussed during the meeting between the chairman of the Agency, Fuad Naghiyev, and the ambassador of India to Azerbaijan, Sridharan Madhusudhanan.

The parties also discussed the development prospects of relations, mutual promotional activities, cultural and historical factors that attract Indian tourists to Azerbaijan, intensification of visits of Indian tourists to Azerbaijan in recent times, and increasing the number of direct flights.

In the first half of this year, more than 47,670 people visited Azerbaijan from India, which is nearly 3 times more than the same period last year, and 1.7 times more than the same period of 2019.

A simplified e-visa system is applied to Indian citizens for travel to Azerbaijan. They can come to the country through direct flights operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC on the Delhi-Baku-Delhi route.
