Germany to open borders for vaccinated foreigners

From June 25, Germany will allow non-EU citizens to enter its territory, provided they complete a full vaccination course, Report informs, referring to Deutsche Welle.

This rule will apply to all travelers, regardless of the purpose of the trip. Currently, citizens of third countries can enter the Federal Republic of Germany only for urgent reasons.

The vaccination certificate will be checked not only by the police but also by the airlines. At the same time, the presence of immunity, from the point of view of the German authorities, is confirmed only by vaccinations with jabs recognized in the EU: BioNTech/Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson.

The spread of coronavirus infection in Germany continues to decline. According to the Robert Koch Institute, 1,076 cases have been registered in the country over the past day. Thus, the total number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic in the country has reached 3,720,031. Over the past 24 hours, 91 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 have died in Germany. The total number of victims of the pandemic has increased in this regard to 90,270.

At the same time, Chairman of the World Medical Association, Frank Ulrich Montgomery, said about the risk of the rapid spread of the Indian strain of coronavirus in Germany. "The insidiousness of this mutation is that its carriers quickly accumulate a large viral load in the throat. Because of this, they can infect others even before they notice that they are sick themselves," the expert said.
