Georgia to require travel insurance from incoming tourists

From June 1, entry of foreign citizens to the territory of Georgia will be possible only with travel insurance, Report informs.

A fine of 300 GEL ($110.22) will be imposed for lack of insurance.

For those who do not pay the fine within a month, the amount will increase three times to 900 GEL ($330.66).

The price depends on the duration of the trip. When insuring, coverage must be provided for $5,000 worth of outpatient and emergency services, as well as $30,000 worth of inpatient services.

The insurance period can be extended online in case a tourist has to stay in Georgia longer than initially intended.
