Florian Sengstschmid: Liberation of Karabakh created new opportunities for tourism

"Karabakh will become a globally competitive and attractive destination for tourists," Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, said at the Global Tourism Forum in Bodrum, Turkey, Report informs.

Speaking about the tourism potential of the liberated lands, he stressed the importance of building tourism infrastructure in Karabakh.

"The liberation of the Karabakh region has created new opportunities for tourism in the country," he said.

Florian Sengstschmid also spoke about the current situation on the COVID-19 pandemic in our country, the vaccination process, the tourism recovery plan, international events held in Azerbaijan, such as the Formula 1 and EURO 2020 football games.

As a part of the forum, Sengstschmid held bilateral meetings with tourism officials and specialists from different countries.

During a meeting with the Turkish Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Nadir Alpaslan, Zengstshmid wished the Turkish national team success, which will play in Baku during the UEFA EURO 2020 Games in June.

Notably, the annual Global Tourism Forum, initiated by the World Tourism Forum Institute, headquartered in London, serves as a platform for international cooperation in the tourism industry.
