Council of Europe selects Azerbaijan as best wine tourism destination

At the award ceremony of the Iter Vitis tangible and intangible winemaking cultural route created by the Council of Europe and the European Institute of Cultural Routes, the Azerbaijan Tourism Board won the Best emerging wine tourism destination award, Report informs, citing the State Tourism Agency (STA).

As reported, the awards given in various categories at the awards ceremony held annually in Sambuca di Sicilia - Italy, aim to promote wine heritage and tourism, as well as sustainable tourism types, in the member countries of the Iter Vitis international network.

Iter Vitis, the Cultural Route of the Council of Europe certified in 2009, promotes the culture of viticulture and winemaking.

Azerbaijan has been a member of the Iter Vitis international network, which includes winemaking routes of 20 countries, since 2019. In 2020, on the initiative of Azerbaijan, the Iter Vitis Caucasus wine route was established as the first innovative transnational route, STA reported.
