British Airways suspends Beijing flights for at least a year

British Airways, the flagship carrier of the United Kingdom, has announced its decision to suspend flights to Beijing for at least a year. According to Report, which cites The Financial Times, the move comes as a result of the closed Russian airspace, which has complicated the airline's operations and increased its expenses.

British Airways has also noted a weakening demand for flights on this route. The suspension will take effect from October 26, 2024, and is expected to last until November 2025.

Despite the halt in Beijing flights, British Airways will continue to operate routes to Shanghai and Hong Kong, two other major cities in China.

Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd., another British airline, recently announced the termination of its London to Shanghai flights starting from October 25.
