Azerbaijani citizens can stay in Kazakhstan without visas for 90 days

New rules for the entry and stay of immigrants will come into force in Kazakhstan from January 27, 2023, according to the country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, Report informs referring to inbusiness.kz.

Innovations concern foreign citizens of 55 countries who enter Kazakhstan and leave without visas if the period of their stay in the country does not exceed 30 calendar days from the moment of crossing the state border for a total of 90 calendar days during each period of 180 calendar days.

The period of stay in Kazakhstan is counted from the moment of crossing the border and, accordingly, those foreigners who enter the country after January 27 will already be subject to the new rules.

Citizens of the EAEU (Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia), Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, who arrived in Kazakhstan, can enter without visas and stay for 90 days within 180 days.

However, in the previous version of the rules, this issue was not settled, foreigners could, after the expiration of the period of stay, leave Kazakhstan and re-enter and thereby ‘renew the terms of stay.’ Citizens of other states not listed in the list enter Kazakhstan on the basis of a visa and the period specified in it.

Similar requirements apply in international practice. In particular, citizens of Kazakhstan can stay no more than 90 days within 180 days in the countries of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine.
