Azerbaijan sees 30% growth in foreign tourist arrivals

In January–November of this year, 1,893,000 foreigners and stateless persons from 186 countries traveled to Azerbaijan, 29.8% more than in the same period last year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

Some 30.5% of tourists came from Russia, 18.1% from Turkiye, 7.9% from Iran, 5.3% from India, 4.9% from Georgia, 4% from Saudi Arabia, 2.8% from Kazakhstan, 2.6% from Pakistan, 1.9% from Uzbekistan, 1.8% from the United Arab Emirates, 1.5% each from Israel and Ukraine, 1.4% from Kuwait, 1.3% from Belarus, 1.2% from each of Turkmenistan and China, 1.1% from Great Britain, and 11% from other countries. 70.1% of them were men, and 29.9% were women.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of tourists from China increased by 7 times, from South Korea 3.4 times, from Turkmenistan 2.5 times, from Kazakhstan 1.9 times, from India 1.9 times, from Poland 1.9 times, from Egypt 1.8 times, from Kyrgyzstan 1.8 times, from Tajikistan 1.8 times, from Bahrain 1.7 times, from the Philippines 1.6 times, from Italy 1.6 times, from Spain 1.5 times, from Moldova 1.5 times, from Uzbekistan 49,8%, from Belarus 48.3%, from Russia 42.9%, from Canada 41.2%, from the USA 38.1%, from Kuwait 30.3%, from Georgia 28.9%, from France 26.4%, from the Netherlands 25.9%, from Israel by 24.4%, from Great Britain 24%, from Türkiye 20.6%, from Germany 18.4%, from Ukraine 12%, and from the United Arab Emirates 7.8%.

Compared to January-November last year, the number of tourists from the CIS countries increased by 47.1% to 758,300 people, from the European Union member states increased by 40.7% to 97,400 people, and from the Gulf countries decreased by 5.4% to 312,800 people.

71.7% of foreigners and stateless persons who traveled to Azerbaijan used air, 27% by rail and car, and 1.3% by sea.
