Azerbaijan's Silk Road heritage presented at UNESCO headquarters

The cultural heritage of the Silk Road of Azerbaijan was presented at UNESCO Headquarters, Report informs, citing the country’s State Tourism Agency.

The State Tourism Agency is participating in the conference dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Silk Road program at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, with an extensive exposition.

The conference, jointly organized by the permanent missions of Azerbaijan, China, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Oman to UNESCO, demonstrates the heritage of the Silk Road of these countries. The exposition is presented under the new motto “Find Your Own Silk Road in Azerbaijan” to develop the tourism potential of Azerbaijan, based on the heritage of the Silk Road. The exposition presents samples emphasizing the similarity of Azerbaijan with elements of the cultural heritage of other countries.

UNESCO Deputy Director General Gabriela Ramos and other officials got acquainted with the exposition and emphasized the great role of the Silk Road in expanding the tourism potential of Azerbaijan.

The Silk Road program, launched in 1988, envisages the study and development of cultural relations between the peoples of the East and West.
