The Azerbaijani city of Shamakhi has been chosen as the tourist capital of the Turkic states in 2023, Deputy Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States Mirvahid Azimov said.
Report quotes Azimov as saying several events will be held in this regard: "At a meeting of the working group and ministers, an agreement was reached on the joint activities of tour operators and travel companies. A joint roadmap for the development of tourism was also adopted. Last year, this initiative was made by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. I believe that the roadmap will expand cooperation in the field of tourism. We also decided to start close cooperation in winter and golf tourism. It's a new direction within our organization. We decided to continue cooperation in this area and create an expert working group for this. Also at the suggestion of the Azerbaijani side, we will choose the best village of the Turkic countries."
