Azerbaijan's outbound tourism surges by 23% in first seven months of 2024

A total of 1.223 million Azerbaijanis ventured abroad in the first seven months of 2023, marking a 23.1% increase compared to the same period last year, according to Report, which cites the State Statistics Committee.

Türkiye emerged as the top destination, attracting 41.2% of Azerbaijani travelers, followed by Russia (21.4%), Georgia (8.7%), and Iran (8.6%). The remaining 20.1% explored other countries across the globe.

The data reveals a gender disparity in travel habits, with men comprising 65% of outbound tourists and women accounting for 35%.

Compared to the previous year, Iran witnessed the highest growth in Azerbaijani visitors at 37.8%, while Türkiye (19.3%), Russia (16.2%), and Georgia (15.9%) also experienced significant increases.

Air travel dominated the preferences of Azerbaijani globetrotters, with 68.9% opting for flights. Rail and road transport followed at 28.9%, while 2.2% chose to sail the seas.
