3rd Grape and Wine Festival in Azerbaijan’s Shamakhi kicks off

The 3rd Grape and Wine Festival, jointly organized by the Azerbaijan State Tourism Agency and Shamakhi District Executive Power in Meysari village, kicked off today.

According to Report, the event, which will conclude tomorrow, aims to promote local grape and wine production, increase the export potential of wine products, and raise public awareness about the history of viticulture and winemaking in Azerbaijan.

The festival grounds feature exhibitions, entertainment zones, various master classes, and pavilions from renowned restaurants. 23 wine houses are participating in the event. The festival also includes a musical program and various entertainment activities.

Wine producers, members of the wine tourism industry, officials, media representatives, and wine enthusiasts are actively participating in the festival, celebrating Azerbaijan's rich winemaking heritage and showcasing the finest vintages from the region.

The Azerbaijan State Tourism Agency promotes wine tourism internationally, highlighting the country’s renowned local grape and wine varieties.

In the western, northern, and northwestern regions, including the Tugh settlement in the Khojavand district, preserving ancient winemaking traditions and utilizing them for tourism are key development goals.

Additionally, Azerbaijan is part of the “Iter Vitis” cultural route, which spans 20 countries. This initiative, created by the Council of Europe and the Institute of European Cultural Routes, aims to promote wine heritage, winemaking tourism, and sustainable tourism practices.
