Russia offers Azerbaijan to join Kontinental Hockey League

The cooperation plan in the field of sports between Russia and Azerbaijan until 2026 is ready to be signed, Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev said on social network, Report informs, ciitng the local press.

The minister said that he met with the Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, Farid Gayibov, in Astana, where the World Nomad Games were held, and offered to consider the possibility of the Azerbaijani clubs’ participation in the Kontinental Hockey League.

"The cooperation plan until 2026 is ready to be signed. This plan includes eight types of sport such as judo, boxing, athletics, football, taekwondo, chess, cyber sports, table tennis. The Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation is currently creating a normative cooperation base between the five Caspian littoral countries (Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Iran) and has offered Azerbaijan to join the Kontinental Hockey League," the Russian minister noted.
