Qatar apologizes to Turkiye for scandal at Islamic Games 

The Qatar Volleyball Association has apologized to Turkiye for the scandal caused by Saad Sulaiman, a national team member, at the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Konya, Report informs.

Ali bin Ghanem Al Kuwari, President of the Association, said that the action of the libero, who made a ‘beheading’ gesture, was unacceptable. He said that he felt sorry for the incident.

Mehmet Akif Ustundag, the President of the Turkish Volleyball Federation (TVF), emphasized that they have filed a complaint against the volleyball player to the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

During the debate in the Turkiye-Qatar volleyball match, Qatar’s player Saad Sulaiman turned in the direction of the Turkish players and made a ‘beheading’ gesture. The Qatari athlete was calmed down by his friends and sent to the stands.
