Azerbaijani athletes who took part in Paris Olympics return to their homeland

Another group of Azerbaijani athletes who took part in the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris have returned to their homeland, Report informs.

A welcoming ceremony was held at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

The event was attended by the country's sports community, media representatives, fans and relatives of the athletes. Along with the athletes, Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, Deputy Minister Mariana Vasileva, Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseynzade and Secretary General Azer Aliyev returned to Baku.

The first group of athletes representing Azerbaijan at the Olympics returned to the country on August 4. The country was represented at the competition by 48 people, seven of whom won medals. Judoists Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) and Zelym Kotsoiev (100 kg) became Olympic champions. Taekwondo wrestler Gashim Magomedov (58 kg) and boxer Alfonso Dominguez (92 kg) won silver medals, while Greco-Roman wrestler Hasrat Jafarov (67 kg), freestyle wrestlers Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) and Magomedkhan Magomedov (97 kg) won bronze.
