Some in Azerbaijan conceal relatives' death to get their pensions

Approximately 70% of cases considered in courts are related to retirement, Abuzar Mutallimov, head of the Central Branch for Judicial Disputes of the State Social Protection Fund (SSPF), said during the Social Hour.

Report informs that, according to him, most people of this age worked during the Soviet era, and those jobs do not exist now:

"A citizen submits his work record book, but it is not possible to go and check it on the spot. Sometimes work record books are interfered with by citizens. A serious struggle is being waged against this as well. Another problem is the failure to inform the relevant authorities about the pensioner's death on time. Relatives' failure to issue a death certificate also means that the deceased's pension is not suspended. Sometimes, we face the fact when money is withdrawn from the pension card of the deceased for about 6 months or a year."
