Sahil Babayev: New jobs to be created in liberated areas as restoration goes ahead

"In line with the growing demands of the labor market, discussions are being held with relevant government agencies to train a skilled workforce and new programs are being developed to this effect," Minister of Labor and Social Protection Sahil Babayev told the Azerbaijan Career Development Forum, Report informs.

He said that the expansion of employment in Azerbaijan is one of the main lines of the government’s policy: "Some 75% of employment contracts, which increased by 30%, fell to the share of the private sector. On the other hand, the salary fund has increased by 92%. The average salary and median salary increased by 40% and 75%, respectively, and this is the result of Azerbaijan's policy in the individual and social development sector. Over 2,300 people have been employed by employment agencies, 36,000 small and micro-farms have been established, which means a stable source of income for 36,000 families. In view of the fact that annually, over 100,000 young people join the labor market, the number of skilled workers is not so big among them. Measures in this direction should be increased and the development of the workforce should be ensured."

"As the restoration work goes ahead in the liberated territories as envisaged in the program, the employment will be provided in those areas. We will try to provide maximum employment in accordance with the process of resettlement of the population in the liberated areas within the self-employment and targeted programs. Currently, work is being carried out there by contractors and relevant state companies, and a workforce has been provided to meet their needs. We, in turn, expect a planned relocation of the population as part of a great return. As this process is implemented in stages, a series of measures will be organized in the employment sector,” the labor minister added.
