The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is working with the government of Azerbaijan to increase the number of women's resource centers, said Nuno Queiros, UNDP acting resident representative, Report informs.
According to him, these centers provide an opportunity for women living in rural areas to get an education, as well as to acquire knowledge so that they can start their own business and make decisions:
"Today, we see the real results of the cooperation between the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the Azerbaijan State Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs, and UNDP. This project is also in line with the national socio-economic policy of the state, as it contributes to the growth of employment and so on."
Queiros emphasized that currently 15 resource centers are operating in the country with the support of UNDP, and two more centers are supported by the state. UNDP is currently working with Azerbaijan to increase the number of such centers so that more women can benefit from such opportunities.
