Germany grants asylum to 1.1 million people from Ukraine 

Germany has granted asylum to 1.1 million people from Ukraine so far.

The Federal Statistical Office of Germany told Report’s European bureau that until now, about 1.1 million women, children, and men have come to Germany from Ukraine. Two-thirds of people immigrated to Germany from March to May 2022, the first three months after the Russian attack.

With the arrival of 1.1 million people, Ukraine rose to second place on the list of foreign communities in Germany. Türkiye is at the top of the list.

The Federal Office said that the number of Ukrainians who arrived in Germany in 2022 was more than the total number of immigrants from Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq between 2014 and 2016.
