Lord of the Rings series moving production from New Zealand

Amazon’s upcoming “Lord of the Rings” series is moving production from New Zealand to the UK for Season 2, Report informs referring to Variety.

The untitled series was picked up for multiple seasons at the streamer when it was first ordered back in 2017. Filming was completed on the first season of the show on August 2. Season 1 post-production will continue in New Zealand through June 2022, while pre-production on Season 2 will begin concurrently in the UK after the first of the year.

This will mark the first time any of the modern “Lord of the Rings” live-action onscreen projects have been produced outside of New Zealand, including “The Hobbit” trilogy.

Amazon recently announced that Season 1 of the “Lord of the Rings” series will debut on September 2, 2022.
