Franca Fendi, one of the five heiress sisters of the famous fashion brand Fendi, has died at the age of 87 in Rome, Report informs referring to TASS.
The woman died in her home, according to Ansa agency.
Franca is one of the five daughters of Edoardo Fendi and Adele Casagrande, who founded the famous fashion house in the 1930s. All five worked in the family company, and it was they who brought it to the world level through many years of cooperation with fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld.
In 2001, the sisters, by common agreement, sold the brand. They realized that a family company, even if known worldwide, could not survive in the face of globalization. Although the Fendi brand has survived, like its headquarters in Rome, it is now part of the LVMH mega-holding (Louis Vuitton - Moet - Hennessy).
