Efendi walks on turquoise carpet in Rotterdam

On May 16, Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam hosted the opening ceremony of the Eurovision 2021 song contest.

According to Report, organizers decided to change the tradition that the Host City throws a red carpet event for participants. This year, the red carpet has transformed into a Turquoise Carpet to show that the Netherlands is historically closely connected with water.

Efendi, who walked among the 34 participants on the carpet representing our country, wore a long dress designed by well-known designer Rufat Ismayil.

Notably, the representatives of Poland and Iceland did not attend the ceremony due to the positive COVID test of a members of the delegations. Singers from Malta and Romania, staying in the same hotel with Iceland's representative, were also forced to be isolated. The Australian board also did not come to Rotterdam due to travel restrictions.

The semi-final concerts of the competition will take place on May 18 and 20, and the final ceremony on May 22. Efendi will perform 14th in the first semi-final, with the song "Mata Hari."
