State Committee: Restoration of Yukhari Govhar Aga Mosque nearing completion

The restoration of Yukhari Govhar Aga Mosque is about to complete, Sayyad Salahli, the First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, told reporters, according to Report.

He recalled that Armenians destroyed all the Azerbaijani mosques in those territories during the occupation: "The attributes and symbols related to Islam were completely destroyed. We not only restore mosques but also restore those places of worship to their original appearance and make some new additions."

The first deputy chairman of the State Committee noted that the restoration works in the liberated territories started long ago: "The restoration of the Yukhari Govhar Agha Mosque is nearing completion, while restoration works are ongoing on the Ashagi Govhar Agha, Saatli and other mosques. Extensive restoration works are being carried out in Shusha. In addition to restoring Shusha's previous appearance, a new face is also formed. In general, restoration of Shusha and our mosques and religious monuments is one of the priorities."
