Ravan Hasanov: Azerbaijan concerned about rise in cases of Islamophobia

Azerbaijan is concerned about the rise in cases of Islamophobia, Executive Director of the Baku International Center for Multiculturalism Ravan Hasanov said at a briefing dedicated to the international conference “Islamophobia as a special form of racism and discrimination: New global and transnational challenges”, Report informs.

He noted that scientists from 31 countries, experts from international organizations, religious figures and representatives of non-governmental organizations will take part in the conference: “Approaches to combat Islamophobia, manifestations of Islamophobia in some European countries, Islamophobia in the world media will be discussed. Azerbaijan will host this event, which is of particular importance. That’s because the increase in cases of Islamophobia in the world also worries Azerbaijan. We hope that the conference will be held on a regular basis.”
