Head of Alban-Udi Christian Community: Azerbaijan is heir to rich Alban heritage in Karabakh

“The ethnic and religious successors of the Albanian Church are the Alban-Udi Christian community,” Head of the Alban-Udi Christian community of Azerbaijan, Robert Mobili, said at the “Caucasian Albania: Religious and social life” X International conference, Report informs.

He said that there is a rich Albanian heritage in Azerbaijan, especially in Karabakh: “Historical monuments and Christian churches are located in those areas. Azerbaijan is the heir to this cultural heritage. The successors and religious successors of the Albanian Church are the Albanian-Udi Christian community. Armenians want to appropriate this history for themselves. But they have neither churches nor monuments in Azerbaijan. Those examples of Christian cultural heritage belong to the Albanian church.”

“Today, the Alban-Udi community is greatly supported by the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, the Baku International Center for Multiculturalism, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and citizens of Azerbaijan. This is our heritage. Once, Armenians tried to appropriate this history. They created a fictional country called ‘Artsakh’ and engage in separatism. This is our heritage. Today, the greatest support for us is provided by President Ilham Aliyev,” Mobili stressed.
