Baku hosts conference on Azerbaijan as example of coexistence

On the occasion of the International Day of Tolerance, the Spiritual Values Promotion Foundation under the Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations has organized a conference on "Azerbaijan: an example of coexistence." Report informs that the event was opened by Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Siyavush Heydarov.

The conference was also attended by representatives of the Spiritual Values Promotion Foundation, the Azerbaijan Institute of Theology and the Baku International Center for Multiculturalism, deputies of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan, leaders and members of Muslim and non-Muslim religious communities operating in Azerbaijan.

Heydarov spoke about the conditions created in the country for freedom of religion, special care shown to all religious confessions, places of worship.

Then spoke MPs Hikmat Babaoglu and Nasib Magamaliyev, Executive Director of the Baku International Center for Multiculturalism Ravan Hasanov, Rector of the Azerbaijan Institute of Theology Agil Shirinov, Executive Director of the Spiritual Values Promotion Foundation Mehman Ismailov.

During the event, representatives of various confessions of Azerbaijan expressed satisfaction with the conditions created to preserve and maintain their ethno-confessional features and traditions.
