Russian troops have occupied 3,620 settlements in Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said addressing members of the Luxembourg parliament, Report informs.
"1,017 of them have already been liberated. Another 2,603 settlements have yet to be liberated," he said.
According to him, about 20% of the territory of Ukraine is under occupation: “Almost 125,000 square kilometers. This is much more than the total area of all the Benelux countries."
The head of state also stressed that 300,000 square kilometers had been contaminated with unexploded mines and shells.
Zelenskyy noted that currently the front line in Ukraine reaches thousands of kilometers:
"Battles continue over a large area from Kharkiv in the east of the country to Mykolaiv in the south. There is a 454 kilometers long straight line between them. But if you look at the whole front line, it is certainly not a straight line, it is more than a thousand kilometers long."
