The contacts between the foreign ministers of the Russian Federation and Iran are regular.
Their last face-to-face meeting took place in Moscow in September 2020. Zarif’s visit to Moscow in November last year was also announced, but it was postponed due to the holding of budget meetings by the Iranian government, which required the presence of the foreign minister.
This time, the Iranian minister will arrive in Moscow from Baku as part of a tour dedicated to resolving the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. This topic is expected to become one of the main issues in the upcoming negotiations.
