Moscow considers the entry ban to Armenia for Russian citizen Andranik Migranyan as an "absolutely unfriendly step," Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova during today's briefing, responding to a question from NEWS.ru.
She noted that Russia is also demanding explanations from Armenian authorities on this matter.
"This contradicts the allied status of bilateral relations. We immediately reached out to Yerevan through bilateral diplomatic channels for clarification, and had previously urged Armenian partners to stop the harmful practice of denying entry to Russian citizens who, for whatever reasons, have fallen out of favor with Armenian authorities," said Zakharova.
According to the diplomat, such attitude from Yerevan seems strange, especially since the republic's authorities constantly declare their openness, democratic nature, and commitment to pluralism of opinions.
