Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin discussed the climate agenda with his Azerbaijani counterpart Yalchin Rafiyev ahead of the UN climate conference (COP29) to be held in Baku in November, according to Report.
"An exchange of views took place on the climate agenda in the run-up to the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan (UNFCCC, November 11-22, Baku)," the Russian Foreign Ministry said following a meeting on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
"Current issues of the UN Future Summit taking place in New York were also discussed, as well as the need to find effective solutions for the challenges facing developing countries. In this context, balanced guidelines of the 'Pact of the Future' approved at the summit were noted - on the development of environmental and energy cooperation, which correspond to intergovernmental decisions taken at the UNFCCC platform," the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
