Uzbekistan sentences defendants in case of death of 68 children

The defendants in the case of Doc-1 Max syrup, which caused the death of 68 children, have been sentenced in Uzbekistan, Report informs referring to Uzbek media.

As many as 86 children were poisoned last year due to taking anti-cold syrup, 68 of whom died.

The Tashkent City Court sentenced the head of the Quramax Medikal syrup importer company, Singh Raghvendra Prathar, to 20 years in prison.

The former head of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency, Sardor Kariev, received 18 years in prison. Deputy ex-heads of the pharmaceutical agency Amirkhon Azimov and Nodirbek Musaev were sentenced to 16 years in prison.

After the death of children in Uzbekistan, the Indian company Marion Biotech stopped producing syrup.
