Uzbekistan Airways JSC has entered into a memorandum with Winrock International, which has 25 years of global experience implementing anti-trafficking programs. The program aims to prevent human trafficking, protect survivors of this tragedy and ensure safe migration, Report informs via the Uzbek media.
The airline has become a member of the Safe Migration in Central Asia project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
As part of the cooperation, representatives of Winrock International in the first quarter of 2023 will conduct a series of training for flight attendants and ground staff of Uzbekistan Airways on their role in safe migration, prevention, signs, identification of victims of human trafficking and measures to counter this problem.
In 2021, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan received 840 appeals related to human trafficking. Two hundred people became victims of human trafficking crimes, including 120 women (60%), of whom 11 were minors, 33 men (8%), and 47 children (32%).
