US to temporarily close its diplomatic offices in Turkey

The US Embassy in Turkey has announced an alert that due to the US recognition of the so-called "Armenian genocide" demonstrations or protests may occur throughout Turkey, Report informs, citing the US Embassy in Ankara.

“As a precautionary measure, the US Embassy in Ankara, the US Consulate General in Istanbul, the US Consulate in Adana, and the US Consular Agency in Izmir will be closed for routine American Citizen and visa services on Monday, April 26 and Tuesday, April 27. US citizens in need of emergency assistance should contact the closest consular section using the phone numbers and email addresses,” reads the embassy statement.

According to the statement, US citizens are advised to avoid the areas around US government buildings, and exercise heightened caution in locations where Americans or foreigners may gather.
