Ukrainian parliament faces dispute over mobilization law

At today's session of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada (parliament), a dispute arose during the discussion of a bill on the mobilization of men aged 18-25, Report informs.

Speaker of the Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, said that the bill will be considered by the relevant committee this evening. He noted that the moment, due to the difficult situation at the front, it is important to make up for the shortage in mobilization.

Deputy Alexey Goncharenko objected and noted that due to legal confusion in the country, thousands of young people with disabilities aged 18 to 25 have been mobilized: "They ended up at the front due to gaps in legislation. But we cannot recall them. Commanders also claim that the army needs healthy recruits. The law should provide for the prevention of such a situation," he noted.

In response, the speaker said that a decision on this issue will be made in the committee today and at the plenary session tomorrow.

In Ukraine, mobilization applies to men aged 27-60, and young people aged 18-25 are also called up to the army.
