Ukraine to be granted EU candidate status in June

Ukraine will be given the status of a candidate at a meeting of European Union (EU) leaders in June, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna, Report informs.

The deputy prime minister said that the part of the documents transferred to the EU has already been processed.

She noted that the first part of the request was sent to the European Commission to assess the possibility of obtaining EU candidate status. The second part is currently being worked on.

The European Commission has promised to issue a final opinion on Ukraine's EU membership this summer.

Thus, Ukraine's full accession to the EU is possible in 2024.
