Türkiye shares its longest border with Syria, Mustafa Elitas, a representative of Türkiye's ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), said during an interview with CNN Türk, Report informs.
Elitas emphasized Türkiye's commitment to ensuring the security of its borders, stating, "This is Türkiye's right."
He highlighted Türkiye's ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, particularly its fierce struggle against ISIS. The official also stressed Türkiye's determination to prevent terrorist organizations like YPG and PKK from establishing what he termed a "terroristan" state along its borders.
According to Elitas, "Syrians in Türkiye are voluntarily returning to their country, and these numbers are gradually increasing." He expressed his belief that the normalization process between Türkiye and Syria would accelerate this trend.
Elitas also noted that there are forces concerned about this normalization process.
