Türkiye plans tourism revenues of $100B in 2028

Based on the results of this year, Türkiye expects to receive income from tourism of $55.6 billion, and in 2028 to increase it to $100 billion, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy told CNN Turk, Report informs.

“Tourism revenues of $55.6 billion were our goal for this year. After their announcement, we experienced the devastating February earthquake, then Türkiye entered the election period. Some things happened, a decline in tourists from Russia and Arab countries, then the war between Israel and Palestine began. Industry revenues for nine months amounted to $42 billion. Despite all the negative aspects, we are approaching the goal that we initially set,” he noted.

He added that Türkiye is setting more ambitious goals for the coming years, including by turning into a year-round tourist country, receiving $100 billion in tourism income by the end of 2028. “This goal is realistic,” the minister said.

In 2022, Türkiye was visited by 44.6 million tourists, the income of its tourism industry amounted to $46.4 billion. This year, it planned to receive about 60 million tourists.
