Türkiye pioneers use of drones in forest fire prevention

Türkiye has become one of only two countries in the world to employ unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in its fight against forest fires, said Abdulkadir Polat, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry in Türkiye, Report informs via Star.

“Türkiye ranks among the world's leading countries with its advanced fleet developed for combating forest fires. Simultaneously, our nation is one of only two countries globally applying drone technology in this crucial battle against woodland blazes,” Polat stated.

He emphasized that Türkiye has made substantial progress in its firefighting capabilities: "Türkiye has greatly advanced in its fight against forest fires, significantly expanding its resources and capabilities."

The deputy minister also took the opportunity to appeal to citizens, urging them to refrain from actions that could potentially cause fires.
