Turkiye’s intention to develop new deposits on the Black Sea bottom may lead to a 30% reduction in the country's dependence on imported gas, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez said, Report informs.
He noted that after the start of Black Sea gas production, it will provide 25-30% of the total consumption.
“Our external dependence on natural gas will drop to 70%,” said Donmez.
At the same time, if new deposits are discovered at the bottom of the Black Sea, the level of Turkiye’s dependence on fuel imports may be reduced even more. However, at present the country is 99 percent dependent on the import of foreign gas, the minister noted.
