Turkish President: "Oil is not our goal"

"We cannot get rid of such slander as 'Armenian genocide'," Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said at the 2nd Istanbul International Ombudsman Conference in Dolmabahce Palace.

"The next generation will appreciate it. History will honor those who did this. The most tragicomedy is that we are threatened with sanctions for our actions to protect our own safety. History records everything. We do not do it for oil. We love people, we don't discriminate them. We didn't say “May the snake which doesn't bite me live for a thousand years!”, but, instead, destroyed the terrorists. Some are sharing oil fields. But this is not our goal” we said. "We don’t care about oil but we care about people. We want to save those people”, we said.

"Our noble behavior continues when there are states that do not hesitate to cooperate with terrorist groups for oil or political interests."
