Turkish Defense Ministry: Ankara won't ask permission for operation near its borders

Türkiye won't ask permission for holding an anti-terror operation near its borders, country's National Defense Minister Yasar Guler said commenting on the possible reaction of the United States and Russia to the large-scale transborder operation of Türkiye.

"When it comes to the security of our country, we do not ask anyone about anything and we just do what is needed. No one should forget that the Turkish Republic is a great state. We have never obeyed and will never obey anyone's orders," he said.

The Turkish Armed Forces expect to conduct a large-scale ground military operation in northern Iraq against militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), and a respective agreement has been reached with the administration of Baghdad.
